Meet Our Members – Jo

Our members are the heart of our gym. It’s the people that turn up every week to give it everything they’ve got in pursuit of their goals that create the positive, motivating community we’re privileged to be host to. Their success is our success. No one tells their story better than they do, and our Meet the Members series gives them the opportunity to share their journey and successes in their own words.


Here’s Jo…

During the COVID lockdown last year, like a lot of people I started drinking more alcohol than usual. After a visit to the doctor in January 2021 and receiving yet another high cholesterol test result I thought it was a good time to reset some of my health priorities. 

I set myself a goal to cut back on the booze, commit to more regular gym sessions at Fiit Project and lose 7kg by my 47th birthday in May. 

I upped my membership at Fiit Project and committed to a minimum of four visits a week. With lots of positive encouragement from the coaches and the regulars at the gym, I started working towards my goals. 

I was surprised at how quickly my fitness improved and my mental health was much better too. To my surprise, I ended up quitting the booze for 3 months and now I only drink once a week. I hit my 7kg weight loss goal ahead of schedule and have actually lost 9kg to date and my cholesterol has dropped significantly for the first time in 5 years. 

I have to say that the team and community at Fiit Project have been there to encourage me all the way.  Thanks, team 😀
